Lilydale Part 2
I am remembering little tidbits as I go along. Papa was laughing about us lighting candles for him soooo much. This took be aback. He knows we have the website obviously and he is happy to be honored this way, but all of the candles, sheesh! That made me laugh.
Lilydale Part 1
So I went to Lilydale on July 7th 2007. The most spiritual place in America, it is a town only lived in by registered mediums. They are rigorously tested and the place is so historical, it is amazing how long spirituality and mediums have been around. I went to see a medium who helped me to finally connect with my Papa. She siad he was such a handsome man, dark hair and beautiful eyes.
She began telling me that my grandfather was here and passed away from the chest area, which was in fact his heart attack suddenly. He knew that I had so much regret in my heart and soul from not being there when he passed on or just before, as I was supposed to visit for New Years. He doesn't want me to feel the guilt, regret, and weight of heavy grief that I do. He is at peace. He is also sorry that he left his family slightly chaotic, because nothing was really planned for and he didn't have much in order regarding finances. He liked his funeral, although some things didn't run as smoothly as planned. He thought that he looked really good at his viewing which was comical, he was laid out in his favourite sports coat and mock neck sweater. He is glad that he went suddenly because he hated the thought of wasting away or being sick.
My Papa is so proud of me and he loves me so dearly. She said he would always tease me in such a loving way though, and I could give it right back to him. He knew how to push people's buttons with his sarcasm but it was all loving. We all could forgive him immediately. He was so protective of me and I was like a daughter to him, he communicated. He was like a big bear protecting his own. My grandmother always tells me that he has his arms around me. The medium told me at the point when I read my letter at the funeral, he had his arms around me. She said it was kind of funny because I was crying but laughing at the same time, at one point. He told her that I was such a sweet girl and said some incredibly sweet things at the funeral about him. He thought it was funny because at the funeral, we all were so serious but after a while, the ice broke, and we all connected. At one point, he said someone came up to me and said something stupid to me. I can't really remember too much as I was in such grief, but I do remember my dad being his usual ridiculous self and asking for $20 for a pathetic reason. He was surprised to see who showed up at the funeral, people he hadn't seen in years. I believe this was his business partners, clients and acquaintances.
Papa said he loved all of the pictures at his funeral, there were some really great ones of him in the past and a couple recent ones, but not too many. He loves pictures where he is in them with other people. He says for some reason, he always loved when I wore a dress. She tells me he must have had a picture of me in a dress that he loved.
When I got stung by a bee, he used to put raw meat on the wound which made me laugh but it worked!
I always thought Papa was going to be strict in certain ways, with our boyfriends or girlfriends because we are so young. He always thought that we should not rush things and settle down too soon. But he really liked Geoff, and the first summer I took him down to see Papa and Grama, I thought he would make us sleep apart. Surprisingly enough, as I was getting ready to sleep in the basement, he told me "Go sleep with your boyfriend Vanessa" and he was so considerate. I love him for that and everything else.
my birthday is coming up april 19 i will miss going out to dinner with you and later drinking champagne in bed with you like we did every year i miss you more than you will ever know love forever your loving wife
